A pair of executive bungalows with failing sand cement render that was applied to new build properties in the early 2000’s.
GPD were employed to provide an over-rend solution following substrate preparatory works to stabilise the walls ready for the new render.
The new render system ‘Scrim & Pin’ consists of applying a thin coat re-enforced system to the existing substrate. This avoids costly and disruptive render removal.
This method is highly effective providing that the substrate is suitable. GPD are happy to assess the substrate to identify the most suitable system for the building.
Disruptive and often messy render removal avoided

Render works as part of an extension and remodelling project to a detached executive rural property in rural Gloucestershire.
Bradstone presents an extremely inconsistent substrate to render over. Often seeing voids of 40mm deep.
When rendering this could result in thicknesses of render reaching 55mm thick. When the renderer is applying in accordance with important manufacturer recommendations.
To avoid adding excessive weights to the original structure GPD used dedicated hand held masonry planning equipment to reduce the peaks of the Bradstone blocks.
This was followed by a levelling coat that is within the required manufacturer guidelines for optimum performance.
The standard BBA certified system from PPG was installed successfully.

EWI installation to a period cottage, designed to improve thermal performance while retaining traditional character.
A detailed pre-works survey carried out to identify the most suitable system. Plus consultation on how to retain the period effects of this charming Malvern cottage. Roof: A key decision taken was to extend roof verge to accommodate the EWI system and retain the same original design.
Elsewhere, aluminium powder-coated verge trims to the same colour as painted wood and guttering were discreetly installed. See if you can see where they are? 😊
Slate window cills were incorporated into the design to avoid the use of inappropriate modern materials.

This can be done smoothly from your mobile, tablet, PC or Mac
Once your enquiry comes in, we review everything and prepare an initial take-off using your images, plans and, where needed, tools like Google Earth. From this, we put together an estimate for you to consider.
This gives you a good sense of costs and helps you decide whether you’d like to move forward to the next stage.
We will carry out a thorough physical survey at this stage.
By way of example:
External Wall Insulation – enquiries for domestic properties
As well as the obvious consideration of the external walls. An understanding of the property construction should always include the internal environment when considering an EWI installation. We always assess the internal space to gain an understanding of the presence of damp and the potential for condensation.
Render only – enquiries for domestic properties
Similarly surveys for non insulated enquiries need to consider the impact of the external coating to the building as a whole, not only the suitability of the existing substrate.
