Timber Frame Render

The system shown below is the Permarock 1.5mm Textured Silicone Render (click here to visit the Permarock website).

As described in the EWI section, timber frame construction is increasingly common in the UK market. The timber structure options tend to be either a timber structure with insulation placed within the timber stud, or SIPS (Structural Insulated Panel System). Both systems provide efficient sustainable construction methods.

Thin-coat rendered finish to timber frames is particularly suitable and cost efficient. The process involves the use of a render system approved Cementitious Render Board (this can be non-combustible), applied to timber battens. The thin coat reinforced render system is applied directly.

The full range of render finishes is available. *Note: brick clips may increase the loadings and may need to be considered by the structural engineer.

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs)

SIPS Panels provide an extremely fast build option for contractors, developers and home-builders.

The section through picture here demonstrates a typical build up when render is the chosen finish.

Thermal Performance

Timber frames offer a more sustainable method of construction. This method of construction is also popular in the development of Passivhaus projects.

Colours & Finishes

For thin coat renders, numerous finishes are available.

With silicone or acrylic ‘through colour’, it means that the finishing coat is coloured. Painting is therefore not required.

Silicone systems are extremely durable and washable and a multitude of colour options are available.

Commonly specified 1.5mm textured silicone finish is also available in 2mm & 3mm textures.

The images below show a selection of colour renders available from both Weber and Wetherby.
